Description
Dowsil 895 Structural Glazing Silicone Sealant (310ml)
Premium structural silicone for glass-to-metal bonding in demanding façade and curtain wall applications.
Dowsil 895 is a high-performance, neutral-cure structural glazing silicone engineered for bonding glass, aluminium, and façade elements where strength, flexibility, and long-term reliability are critical.
Designed for use in structural glazing and curtain wall systems, it provides outstanding adhesion and load-bearing performance while maintaining flexibility under movement, vibration, and thermal expansion.
Its proven resistance to UV, weathering, and extreme temperatures makes it the go-to choice for façade engineers, contractors, and installers working on high-spec architectural projects.

How to Apply
1. Surface Preparation
- Clean glass, metal, and coated substrates using a compatible solvent such as Dowsil R-40 Universal Cleaner on a lint-free cloth.
- Ensure all surfaces are dry, dust-free, and free of oil, release agents, or other contaminants.
- Allow solvents to flash off completely before applying the sealant.
2. Primer Use - In some glazing systems, a primer may be required to achieve optimal adhesion — always perform a preliminary adhesion test or follow system supplier recommendations.
3. Masking - Apply masking tape to joint edges for neat lines and to prevent smearing.
4. Application - Cut the nozzle to match joint width. Apply Dowsil 895 using a pneumatic or manual gun in a continuous, even bead. Ensure full wetting of both substrates. Avoid trapping air bubbles.
5. Tooling - Tool immediately after application to compress the sealant into the joint and achieve a smooth, uniform profile.
6. Curing
- Skin time: ~50 minutes
- Full cure: approximately 7–14 days depending on joint thickness, temperature, and humidity.
Do not move or stress bonded units until full cure has developed.
7. Joint Design Tips
- Maintain joint dimensions as per system engineering design.
- Use a backer rod or bond-breaker tape to prevent three-sided adhesion.
- Ensure adequate sealant bite per design loads (typically ≥6 mm)
