    • Description

Dowsil C60 is a professional-grade low-modulus neutral-cure silicone sealant engineered for perimeter and expansion joints where flexibility and adhesion are critical. Designed for external sealing around windows, doors and curtain walls, it accommodates up to ± 50 % joint movement without loss of adhesion. Unlike acetoxy silicones, C60 is non-corrosive, making it suitable for metals and sensitive building materials such as aluminium, coated steel, PVC-U and masonry.

It bonds strongly to both porous and non-porous surfaces without primer, maintaining elasticity under weather, UV and temperature changes. Whether used in new construction or renovation projects, Dowsil C60 delivers a long-lasting, watertight seal that performs reliably year after year – making it a preferred choice for professional contractors and installers seeking proven durability and clean finish results.

    • Benefits

      • Low-modulus neutral-cure formula allowing joint movement up to ± 50 %.
      • Excellent adhesion to porous and non-porous substrates – no primer required.
      • Non-corrosive on metals; perfect for aluminium, coated steel and PVC-U.
      • Long-term resistance to UV, ozone, weathering and temperature extremes.
      • Ideal for glazing, perimeter and façade joints in commercial and domestic builds.
    • How to Apply

      1. Surface Preparation

      • Non-porous surfaces (glass, aluminium, metal): Clean thoroughly using Dowsil R-40 Universal Cleaner or a similar solvent on an oil- and lint-free cloth; wipe dry immediately.
      • Porous surfaces (concrete, brick, stone): Clean mechanically with a stiff brush or abrasive pad to remove loose material and dust.

      2. Masking - Apply masking tape along joint edges for neat lines and to prevent spread.

      3. Application - Cut nozzle to suit joint width. Using a caulking gun, apply a continuous, even bead ensuring full contact with both sides of the joint.

      4. Tooling - Tool immediately after application to compact the sealant and achieve a smooth finish. Remove masking tape before skin forms.

      5. Curing

      • Tack-free time: ≈ 30 minutes
      • Full cure: 24 – 48 hours (depending on joint depth and climate)
Avoid water exposure during the first 24 hours.

      6. Joint Design Tips

      • Keep a 2 : 1 width-to-depth ratio for optimum performance.
      • Use a backer rod or bond-breaker tape to control joint depth and prevent three-sided adhesion.
      • Minimum joint width 6 mm.
